Dear SDAB Members and Friends,
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming South Dakota Association of the Blind Convention, Sept 18-19 at the Fairfield Inn, 2901 6th Ave Southeast Aberdeen, SD 57401. We hope you will join us.
This convention promises to be a gathering of empowerment, connection, and enlightenment for individuals with blindness and visual impairments, their families, and advocates alike. Deadline to register for the convention is Sept. 5, 2026.
Convention registration fees are $35 per person. This includes the Friday night pizza party and Saturday’s box lunch. On Saturday evening, we plan to go out for dinner at Mavericks Steak House & Cocktails, this meal will be at your own expense. To review the menu, visit their website at: www.maverickssteak.com.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Fairfield Inn at a rate of $169 per night plus tax. Please call the hotel and ask for Becca at 605 229 9990 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, by September 5 to receive the discounted room rate. Be sure to request a room in the SDAB (South Dakota Association of the Blind) room block. Since we are changing our location and the room rate is higher, SDAB is willing to reimburse members the difference per night between the two hotel rates. Reimbursement will be mailed after the convention.
Please complete your registration for the convention by September 5, as these numbers are needed to plan meals for Friday evening and Saturday noon. A continental breakfast will be available in the hotel breakfast room on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Friday afternoon meetings will be held in the Fairfield Inn breakfast room, followed by transportation to the School for the Blind for a tour and pizza party with the students. Saturday’s sessions will take place at the Eagles Nest, and transportation will be provided.
We are planning an auction after lunch on Saturday. Start thinking of items you would like to donate for the cause.
Transportation from Sioux Falls to the convention is available for $20 per person round trip.
